Sol

The Obsidian Collective is well into development on its first feature film project: Sol. With a production date set for fall '09, Sol tells the harrowing tale of five young adults that find themselves stranded further from home than they ever thought possible. Everything goes wrong for the children as the comforts of home grow increasingly distant and the technologies they rely so heavily upon fail just as painfully as their hopes of ever getting back.

Sol is a character story about camaraderie overcoming adversity, sacrifice, having to grow up quickly, and finding happiness in the worst of situations. It's a universal and relatable look at young people trying to find their place in a world while being forced to face obstacles that even few adults ever have to...

As feature-length films are the primary product of The Collective, this project presents an exciting opportunity for contributing artists to come together for the creation of a product that's long-lasting and memorable. Sol will be produced entirely in North Carolina, with efforts ranging from the mountains to the coast, and creative input from our members spreading across the country.

With our company goal of fostering emerging artistic talent, The Obsidian Collective is actively recruiting craftsmen and artists to employ in the creation of this film. This includes, but is not limited to, concept artists, art directors, production designers, storyboard artists, set-builders, and on-set crew/technicians.

It's our goal to create a lasting media production community in WNC, encompassing several art forms and employing numerous technicians. We aim to make Sol the catalyst of this movement, and though we welcome new-comers from across the country, our door is especially open to consider artists and craftsmen from the WNC area.
